This document describes the functionality of 'item picking classification', introduced in product update 406.
The E-WMS item classification allows you to assign a free text as classification to an item, giving the possibility to pick specific items first, because these items have to be palletized first on a shipping pallet. Also you can split the lines to be picked to different hand terminals, based on selections of item classifications. This allows you to send items which require specific equipment (based on the assigned item classification or item group) to a specific order picker. Although this new functionality is primary intended for usage with WMS ASP, it can also be used when working with WMS CAB because the changes affect only the Control Centers.
Requirements
Supported in processes
The 'picking classification' is available in these processes, as:
Picking classification In Exact Globe Next's item maintenance, WMS button, you are able to assign a 'picking classification' to an item.
You will have to think about setting up proper a 'picking classification' code scheme, allowing room for new classifications to be inserted later.
Picking methodNext, you are able to define how the lines to be picked will be sorted on a hand terminal. This can be done by changing the settings 'Picking method', in menu System, General, Settings, WMS Sales order fulfillment (or in the settings for WMS Replenishment and Production order issues).
Each of the three methods provides the same sorting options, picking method 2 and 3 offer additional option 'None'. These are some samples:
Filtering
The 'picking classification' can be used to filter order lines, so you can direct specific items to specific order pickers (or equipment).
Note: When starting this 'filter order lines' popup window for the first time, you will probably have to resize the window once. This is related to the fact that E-WMS saves your screen positions and screen sizes.
Though browse functionality is added for 'Picking classification', the list shown is a summary of your used classifications and not of a separate master data table.
