E-WMS - WMS button in maintenance of warehouses

Introduction

This document describes the E-WMS settings that can be maintained via Inventory ➔ Warehouse management ➔ Warehouses - maintenance of Exact Globe Next warehouses.

After selecting and opening a warehouse, you can access the WMS settings by clicking the WMS button:

The following WMS settings are available per warehouse:

General section

Real-time transfers
Enables the possibility to start transfers on a WMS scanner, while the WMS receipt for that stock has not been read back and processed yet. You can read more in this document.
When disabled, received stock can only be transferred after the receipt has been read back and processed.
Communication Directory (PC)
This setting only applies when using WMS File communication, e.g. when exchanging WMS transaction files with a logistics provider.
With this setting you can configure a specific folder per warehouse. When empty, the default WMS communication (WMS General settings) will be used.

Fulfilment section

Communication
It is possible to specify a specific means of communication per warehouse. When selected, this overrides the default communication method configured in WMS Sales order fulfilment settings.
Export file
It is possible to specify a specific filename per warehouse, for export of orders to be picked and when using 'File' communication.
Import file
It is possible to specify a specific filename per warehouse, for import of picked orders and when using 'File' communication.

Receipts registration section

Communication
It is possible to specify a specific means of communication per warehouse. When selected, this overrides the default communication method configured in WMS Receipt registration settings.
Export file
It is possible to specify a specific filename per warehouse, for export of purchase orders to be picked and when using 'File' communication.
Receipts registration: Import file
It is possible to specify a specific filename per warehouse, for import of receipts and when using 'File' communication

Receipt location
This setting is available from release 414, and from 413SP5 after performing 'Add-on initialization' (or updating the database).

When filled with a location, this generic receipt location will be used as default advised location for WMS Purchase orders to be received and sent picking.
When scanning a receipt, a location configured in WMS scanner settings will overwrite this generic receipt location again.

When left empty (or in not-updated release 413, or in earlier releases), the item main location will be used as planned receipt location, until the receipt line has been received.

This location has following purposes:

just before scanning a location, this location is shown on the scanner (orange arrow) until the location field is reached where the location is overwritten with the location configured in the scanner settings (green arrow):

In this sample, 'REC' was configured as 'Receipt location' for warehouse 1, and location 'REC1' was configured in the scanner settings for this scanner user.
A stock receipt reservation is created within the WMS stock reservations, for the planned receipt location - until the receipt line has been scanned and received on the final location.
When 'Receipt location' is not configured (or before this setting was available), the stock reservation for the receipt was placed on the item default location.

This could prevent replenishment to the item main location, since WMS Replenishment takes unprocessed receipts into account as 'stock already on its way and not to be replenished'.
When using Real-Time Replenishment the item main location is the default replenishment target location and you may need to configure a specific generic receipt location.
