Introduction
An opportunity in Exact Synergy Enterprise records the progress of a sales
cycle. With so many recorded opportunities, it is useful to be able to search
for relevant and related opportunities so that they can be compared. The
differences in these opportunities can then be analyzed to help make better
business decisions.
Roles and rights
All users can search for opportunities.

What version are you using?
The information in this document is applicable to product update 261 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.
How do I search for opportunities?
- On the Opportunities: Search page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
How do I reset the search criteria?
- On the Opportunities: Search page, click Reset.
How do I view the total number of opportunities?
- On the Opportunities: Search page, define the search criteria.
- Click Count.
How do I set the search criteria to the default settings?
- On the Opportunities: Search page, click Default.
Buttons
Close
Click this to exit.
Show
Click this to display the results based on the defined criteria.
Note:
- Once you have clicked this, the name of the button will change to Search.
- Once you have clicked this, the Reset, Count, and Default buttons will not be available.
- Once the search results are displayed, the Expanded, Compressed, and Column icons will be available next to the Page size field for you to select the display views for the search results.
Reset
Click this to clear the defined criteria.
Count
Click this to display the total number of results based on the defined criteria.
Default
Click this to set back to the default settings.
Search
Click this to define new criteria for your search.
Icon
Customise
Click Customise at the title bar to customize the fields, columns, or sections. You can add or remove existing criteria based on your preferences by selecting or clearing the relevant check boxes. You can also specify the columns to be shown at the results section as well as the order of the columns. Click Save to save the settings, Default to set back to default settings, or Close to exit. Take note of the following swction:
Account section
Besides the standard criteria, this section also displays the free fields that are defined by the user for the opportunity. Free fields are available only if the user has set up the free fields for opportunities. For more information, see Overview of free fields for opportunities.
Note: This Customise icon will be displayed based on the function right defined at the Function right to customize search results field at Modules ? Customers ? Setup ? Opportunity management ? Settings. For more information, see Defining settings for opportunities and auto-generating opportunity codes. If the field has been defined, you will be able to see this icon only if you have the function right. If the field has not been defined, this icon will always be displayed.
Fields
Opportunities section
Description
Type a full or partial description to search for the opportunity that matches this description. Click the icon to change the way the search is conducted. These include:
- Starts with — This option searches for text beginning with the specified criteria.
- Contains — This option searches for test that contains the specified criteria.
- Equal to — This option searches for text that is the exact match to the specified criteria.
Code
Type a full or partial opportunity code to list opportunities that match this code. Click the icon to change the way the search is conducted. These include:
- Starts with — This option searches for text beginning with the specified criteria.
- Contains — This option searches for test that contains the specified criteria.
- Equal to — This option searches for text that is the exact match to the specified criteria.
Project
Type or select the project ID to display the opportunities that are linked to the selected project. The opportunities to be displayed will also depend on the option selected at Only main project.
Only main project
Select Yes to display the opportunities that have the main projects linked. If you select Yes and a project is selected at Project, then only the opportunities that have the selected project linked as the main project will be displayed. Select No to display all the opportunities. If you select No and a project is selected at Project, only the opportunities that have the selected project linked will be displayed.
Owner: Manager
Type or select the owner who is overall responsible for the opportunity
Contact
Select the contact person which the opportunity is linked to.
Follow-up date
Type or select a follow-up date or a range of follow-up dates to search for the opportunities with the defined follow-up date(s). You can select a type of date range from which the system will automatically generate the exact follow-up dates for the selected period, such as <All>, This year, This quarter, This month, This week, Today, Yesterday, Last days: 7, Last days: 30, Last days: 90, Last days 365. Click or to decrease or increase the values for the selected range.
Define the first follow-up date field only to search for opportunities with the defined follow-up date and opportunities with follow-up dates thereafter.
Define the second follow-up date field only to search for opportunities with the defined follow-up date and opportunities with follow-up dates prior to the one defined.
Creator
Type or select the employment ID or name of the person to display the opportunities that have been created by this person.
Account - Details section
Account
Type or select an account to display the opportunity that is linked to the account.
Sales section
Item
Type or select the item code to display opportunities linked to the item.
Targeted assortment
Type or select an assortment to indicate the assortment for which the opportunity is targeting.
Columns section
This section displays the account, main project, description, targeted assortment, stage, owner, and follow-up date of the opportunities that match your search criteria.
Templates section
You can save your search criteria as a template. For more information, see Creating and modifying search templates.
