Introduction
You do not need to specify a tax amount but it is necessary
to specify a tax code for the different entries that you make in your
administration. The tax amount is then calculated based on the specified tax
percentage for this code. In this screen, all created tax codes are displayed.
From this overview, you can:
- generate reports of selected tax codes
- recode existing tax codes
- create tax codes
- modify existing tax codes, or
- delete the selected tax codes.
What version are you using?
The information in this document is applicable to product
update 407 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features
explained here will not be applicable.
How do I generate a report?
- In the main screen, click Report. A report will be generated displaying the details of the VAT codes.
- Click Printer settings to setup the page, click Export to change the format and the
destination of the file or click Print the print out the report.
- Click Close to exit.
How do I recode existing tax codes?
- In the main screen, select the
required VAT code and its details.
- Click Recode.
- The message “This process may
take some time. Continue?” will be displayed.
- Click Yes to continue or No to cancel.
How do I create tax codes?
- In the main screen, click New.
The VAT codes screen will be displayed.
- Define the relevant fields.
- Click Save.

with the “!” icon are mandatory.
How do I edit existing tax codes?
- In the main screen, define the search criteria or select the required VAT code.
- Click Open. The VAT codes screen will be displayed.
- Make the required changes on the relevant fields.
- Click Save.
- Click Close to exit.

How do I delete tax codes?
- In the main screen, select the required tax code that you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- The message “Depending on the size of the company, this function may
take a long time because all files will be checked. Delete?” will be displayed.
- Click Yes to proceed or No to cancel deletion.
How do I change the percentage of the tax without recoding?
- In the main screen, select the required tax code and click VAT conversion. The
VAT conversion screen will be displayed.
- Select the check box under the Disclaimer section to enable all
the sections in the screen.
- Make the required changes accordingly and click OK.

Fields
Search
Click this to search for the tax
codes based on the defined criteria.
Clear
Click this to clear the defined
criteria.
Rows
Type the number of rows to be
displayed for each screen. If you have set the default number of rows to “2”,
then two rows will displayed. Therefore, if you have more than two rows listed,
you will see the Previous and Next buttons.
Previous
Click this to return to the previous list of VAT codes, descriptions,
and creditor codes.
Next
Click this to go to the next list of VAT codes, descriptions,
and creditor codes.
Filter
Select the required option to
filter the search that starts with or contains a certain letter or word.
VAT code
Type the tax code that you want to display.
Creditor
Type the creditor code that
corresponds to the tax code that you want to display.
Description
Type the description of the tax
code that you want to display.
Columns
VAT code
This column displays the code of
the VAT.
Description
This column displays the
description of the VAT code.
Creditor
This column displays the creditor
code.
Buttons
Report
Click this to generate a report
of the selected tax codes.
Delete
Click this to delete a tax code.
This can only be done if the selected tax code is not used for an entry, or is
not linked to tax sections or other basic data (such as debtors).
Open
Click this to view or edit the selected tax code. For more information, see Creating
and maintaining tax codes.
New
Click this to create a tax code. For more information, see Creating and maintaining tax codes.
Recode
Click this to change the code of the selected tax code. For more information, see Recoding.
VAT conversion
Click this to change the percentage of the tax without recoding the selected tax
code. A new tax code will then be created to store the old percentage.
Close
Click this to exit.
