This document provides you the overview of roles.
Roles are assigned to people based on job levels and functions. The roles are linked to different menu rights and function rights to control the access to different menu paths and to perform different functions at various menu paths, respectively.
The information in this document is applicable to product update 407. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.
Type the maximum number of rows to be displayed for each screen. If you have set the default number of rows to 10, then 10 rows will be displayed. Therefore, if you have more than 10 rows listed, you will see the Previous and Next buttons.
Select starts with or contains to search for roles that start with or contain the text defined at Role and Description.
Type a full or partial name of a role.

Click this to search for roles based on the defined criteria.
Click this to clear the defined criteria.
Click this to view the log file for the security roles. Changes made to the security roles will be logged. For more information, see Viewing logs for security roles.
Click this to obtain an overview of user roles and rights. For more information, see Overview of user roles and rights.
Click this to change the code of the selected role.
Note: You can recode only roles which have not been pre-defined. An example of a pre-defined role is the role of administrator.
Click this to copy a role from a different administration.
Click this to delete the selected role.

Click this to exit.
Click this to add a user to the corresponding role. For more information on how to assign employees to a role, see Creating and maintaining roles.
Note: This icon is enabled only if you have selected a user.
Click this to remove the selected user(s) from the corresponding role. For more information on how to remove employees from a role, see Creating and maintaining roles.
Click this to view or maintain the details of the corresponding person. For more information, see Creating and maintaining entries for people.
