Adding parts to service configuration items

Introduction
Service configurations represent the individual and unique objects that can be serviced. These objects can be individual products or combinations of products that can be serviced. Service configurations can even include related parts on multiple levels within the configuration. This makes it possible to identify a simple piece of equipment up till a complex group of machines with multiple serviceable parts within these machines.
When a configuration item is viewed, it is possible to add a part. This is to define the relevant parts for the service orders. It is even possible to add a part to a part and thereby building a more secure service configuration.

The information in this document is based on product update 247.
How do I add a part to a service configuration item?
- On the Service: Search - Configurations page, define the relevant criteria.
- Click Show.
- Click the hyperlinked configuration required under the Configuration column.
- On the selected service configuration page, click Add under the Service configuration items section.
- On the Service: Configurations - Part New page, define the relevant criteria.
- Click Save.
Keep in mind: All fields with the "!" are mandatory.

Save
Click this to save the details defined for the new part.
Save + New
Click this to save the details defined for the new part.
Close
Click this to exit.
Fields
Configuration section
Parent
This shows the item for which this part has been added.
Item
Type or select the item to which you want to add the part.
Serial number
Type or select the serial number of the item.
Quantity
Type the amount of items that are part of the configuration. This is mandatory.
Start date
Type or select the date for when the item is to be added to the configuration.
End date
Type or select the date for when the item is to be added to the configuration.
