Printing and processing production orders

Introduction
After a production order is released, you can print and process the production order and then send it to the production floor with additional instructions. Printing is an optional step in the production order process. If the Print: Required check box in the Production order status section at System ➔ General ➔ Settings, under Manufacturing settings is selected, it will be mandatory to print the production order before it can be issued.

How do I print production and/or disassembly orders?
- In the Print: Production order screen, define the relevant criteria.
- Click Search to display the production and/or disassembly orders.
- Select the production order(s) to be printed.
- Click Process.
Keep in mind: An order is considered to be processed only when Final is selected at Process.
Fields
Process section
Process
Select Trial to print a test copy or Final to print a final copy of the order.
Output
By default, the Printer option is selected as the output method for production order instructions. The printer selected is the default printer of the operating system.
Date
Type or select the date to be printed on the order.
Layout
Type or select the layout for the production order to be printed. By default, the layout defined at Production order in the Logistics section at System ➔ General ➔ Settings, under Documents settings will be automatically selected.
Note: This is enabled only if you have selected the Print production order check box in the Options section.
Bar code
Select the bar code format to print the bar code for the production order.
Note: This is available only if you have the E-Barcode module.
Selection section
Selection method
Select one of the following options to filter the production orders:
- Production order — Select this to filter by production order number.
- Item — Select this to filter by the item codes of the finished goods.
- Start date — Select this to filter by start dates of the production orders.
- Parent project — Select this to filter by parent projects.
- Selectively — Select this to enable the manual selection of orders for printing. By selecting this check box, you will also be able to view a list of the orders that are authorized. If this check box is not selected, Number of production orders will be displayed below the Options section. Click Number of production orders to see the count for the orders.
Warehouse
Select a warehouse to display orders that are linked to the defined warehouse. Alternatively, select All to display orders linked to all warehouses.
Assortments
Click this to view a list of all your assortments. To obtain production orders with items of the selected assortment, you can select one assortments or more at a time.
Selection code
Click this to display production order records with the specific selection code.
Production order, to
Type or select a production order number or range of production order numbers to search for specific production order(s). Alternatively, select the All check box to display all production orders.
Note: This is available only if Production order is selected at Selection method.
Order type
Select Production order or Production order: Disassemble to display the production orders or disassembly orders respectively.
Labour hour, to
Type or select a labor hour item or range of labor hour items to display the orders which have the selected working hour in (one of) their order lines. Alternatively, select the All check box to display all labor hour items.
Planner
Type or select a planner (person) to display the orders that are created by the selected planner. Alternatively, select the All check box to display orders that are created by all planners.
Options section
Print operation slip
Select this check box to print the operation steps in addition to the production orders.
Note: If you clear this check box, the Print production order check box will be automatically selected.
Print production order
Select this to generate printouts of the production orders. Selecting this check box will enable the Layout field in the Process section.
Note: If you clear this check box, the Print operation slip check box will be automatically selected.
Layout
Select a layout for the operation slip.
Note: This is enabled only if you have selected the Print operation slip check box.
Compress items
Select this check box to summarize similar items into single lines with summary quantities instead of in individual lines.
Compress hours
Select this check box to summarize similar hour items into single lines with summary hours instead of in individual lines.
Print waste
Select this check box to include the production waste in the production order. If you also select the Compress items check box, the production waste will be summarized based on the waste item code.
Print: Attachments
Select this check box to print the attachments that are linked to the finished goods line(s) in the production order(s).
Print: Attachments (BOM line)
Select this to print the attachments linked to the BOM lines in the production order(s).
Print: Instructions
Select this to print the instructions that are linked to the BOM structure of the item.
Print: Suborder
Select this to print the suborders which have been generated for the selected production order. Type the level of suborder(s) that you want to print. A suborder is the production order requested to fulfill the subassembly items required for a finished goods item. The maximum allowed suborder level is 99.
Search
Click this to display the orders that match the defined criteria.
Clear
Click this to clear the defined criteria.
Buttons
Preview
Click this to preview the documents before printing it.
Process
Click this to start the printing of the order(s). After the production orders are sent to the printer, you will see a green check mark under the Printed column for the corresponding production orders.
Print labels
Click this to print the labels for parts before they are issued to the production floor. You can also select an appropriate layout. In the Print labels screen, you can select the items to include in your label such as finished goods, part items, and labor or machine hours. Select one of the following options:
- None — Select this to indicate that the finished good, part items, labor hours, and machine hours are not to be printed on the label.
- Quantity planned — Select this to indicate that the finished good, part items, labor hours, machine hours, and the planned quantity allowed for the production order must be printed.
- Other — Select this to indicate the number of labels that must be printed for each finished good, part items, labor hours, and machine hours. You need to type the number in the box.
Close
Click this to exit.
