Introduction
It is possible to perform necessary actions to modify some important information of an item. With this function, you can recode the items, change the assortment of the items, merge the items, copy the items to other countries, or copy the items to a new item.
Roles & rights
- To recode the item, function right 221 – Allows to renumber items is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.
- To change the assortment of the item and its properties, function right 283 – Allows to adjust assortment of a single item is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.
- To merge an item to another item, function right 300 – Allows to merge two items to create one single item is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right. The item which is merged to another item will not be available in the system.
- To copy the item, function right 34 – Maintain World Items, except to change the division or function right 347 – Maintain Country items is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.
- To be able to copy the item to the selected countries, function right 347 – Maintain Country items is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.

How do I recode items?
- On the Search: Items page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
- Select an item under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Click Actions.
- Click Recode: Item. For more information, see Recoding items.
How do I change the assortment of the items?
- On the Search: Items page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
- Select an item under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Click Actions.
- Click Move: Assortment. For more information, see Changing assortment of items.
How do I merge items?
- On the Search: Items page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
- Select an item under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Click Actions.
- Click Merge: Items. For more information, see Merging items.
How do I copy items?
- On the Search: Items page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
- Select an item under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Click Actions.
- Click Copy item: Item. For more information, see Copying items for Central Master Data Management (CMDM).
Keep in mind: This function is available only if you have selected the Items check box at System à Setup à Central Master Data Management à Settings.
How do I copy the items to different countries?
- On the Search: Items page, define the search criteria.
- Click Show.
- Select an item under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Click Actions.
- Click Copy item: Country. For more information, see Copying item to different countries.

Click this to exit.
Fields
Recode: Item
Click this to recode the selected item. For more information, see Recoding items.
Move: Assortment
Click this to change the assortment and assortment properties of the selected item. For more information, see Changing assortment of items.
Merge: Items
Click this to merge the selected item to another item. For more information, see Merging items.
Copy item: Item
Click this to copy the selected item. For more information, see Copying items for Central Master Data Management (CMDM).
Note: This is available only if you have selected the Items check box at System à Setup à Central Master Data Management à Settings.
Copy item: Country
Click this to copy the item to the selected countries. For more information, see Copying item to different countries.
