Merging Items
Introduction
Introduction
You can merge an item to another item in certain scenarios. For example, a specific item has been decided by the company to be sold under another product name due to some business restructurings. With this function, the item which is being merged to another item will no longer exist in the system.
Menu path
Go to Logistics/Reports/Search/Items, define the search criteria, and then click Show to display the overview of items. Under the Code column, click the item code which you want to merge to another item, and then click Edit. Next, click Actions followed by Merge: Items.
Roles & rights
To merge items, function right 300 – Allows to merge two items to create one single item is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Button
Merge
Click this to merge the selected source item to the target item. After you have clicked this, you will see a confirmation message to merge the source item to the target item. Click Yes. Next, you will see a message that confirms the successful merging of the two items.
Close
Click this to exit.
Description
Item code (Source)
Type or select the item code which will be merged to another item. The assortment and attributes of the selected item will be displayed in the Assortment and Attributes sections, respectively. Notice, that there is a reminder that the merging process will cause the loss of the source item information in the system.
Note: You cannot select an item with attachments as the source item to be merged to another item. If you attempt to merge a source item which has attachments, you will see this message “Invalid: Source – Attachments: Already exists” once you click Merge.
Item code (Target)
Type or select the target item code. This item will acquire the source item. Once you have selected the target item, the assortment and attributes of the item will be displayed in the Assortment and Attributes sections, respectively. These sections will be displayed on the right column under the Item code (Target).
