Overview of cost centers

Introduction
Cost centers usually
represent departments or divisions where the staff reside based on the
skills they specialize in; expenses incurred for a department should be
allocated to the corresponding cost center. This overview displays all the
cost centers created. In this screen, you can create, maintain and recode the
cost centers.
What version are you using?
The information in this document is applicable to product
update 407 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features
explained here will not be applicable.
How do I create a cost center?
- In
the overview of cost centers, click New.
- Define
the field(s).
- Click Save, and then click Close.
Keep in mind: All fields with the “!” icon are
mandatory.
How do I view a cost center?
- In
the overview of cost centers, define the search criteria.
- Click
Search and select a cost center to be viewed.
- Click
Open or double-click the cost center that you selected.
How do I delete a cost center?
- In
the overview of cost centers, define the search criteria.
- Click
Search and select a cost center to be deleted.
- Click
Delete.
- A
message “Delete: Cost centres, XXX. Depending on the size of your company, this
function may take a long time because all files will be checked. Delete?” will
be displayed.
- Click
Yes and the message “Cost centres, XXX: Deleted” will be displayed.
- Click
Print to print the report, or click Close to exit.
How do I recode a cost center?
- In
the overview of cost centers, define the search criteria.
- Click
Search and select a cost center to be edited.
- Click
Recode.
- At
New value, type a new value to recode the cost center.
- Click
Recode, and the message “Recode: completed successfully!” will be displayed.
- Click
OK.
Fields
Search
Click this search for cost centers based on the defined
criteria.
Clear
Click this to clear the defined criteria.
Previous
Click this to return to the previous list of cost centers.
Next
Click this to go to the next list of cost centers.
Rows
Type the number of rows to be displayed for each screen. If
you have set the default number of rows to “10”, then 10 rows will be
displayed. Therefore, if you have more than 10 rows listed, you will see the Previous
and Next buttons.
Filter
Select the required option to filter the search that starts
with or contains a certain letter or word.
Cost centre
Type a cost center code.
Description
Type a full or partial description of the searched cost center.
Buttons
Recode
Click this to assign a new code for the selected cost
center. You can type a new code up to eight alphanumeric characters. If you
rename a cost center that has already been used in a financial transaction, the
name of the cost center in the transaction will change too. For more
information, see Recoding.
Delete
Click this to delete the cost center. You cannot delete cost
centers which have been linked to financial transactions.
Open
Click this to view or modify the selected cost center. For
more information, see Creating and maintaining cost centers.
New
Click this to create a cost center. For more information,
see Creating and maintaining cost centers.
Close
Click this to exit.
