Product Updates 422, 421, and 420: Mailing system now supports TLS 1.2 connections

As part of continued enhancements to security, Exact Globe Next (EGN) now supports TLS 1.2 connections for its SMTP mailing system. It has been updated to run on the .Net framework.

SMTP settings are found under the General tab in the User settings screen at System ➔ General ➔ User settings. To implement this, the following were impacted:

• Port number - Under the Use section, the preferred value to be used at the Port field is "587". Port 25 may not work with certain users due to additional security settings (such as IT infrastructure, firewall, et cetera). Avoid port 465 as Microsoft SMTP .Net does not support the Implicit SSL method.
• Enabling SSL - Under the Use section, the Use Secure Connection (SSL) option should be enabled.
• User credentials for authentication - Under the Use section, the Server field should contain the user's credentials according to the server host that is being used.
• Error messages - Error messages may differ from previous SMTP implementation.
• Additional setting up process - Additional process may be required to set up certain server hosts such as Gmail. This is dependent on the server host.
