Error message "File (C:\E-WMS\BESTEL.DAT): Doesn't exist" with E-WMS Activesync
Pick-IT
Problem
When sending a transaction to the scanner while using communication method Activesync, you see the error message

Error: file (C:\E-WMS\BESTEL.DAT): Doesn't exist.
The file name (bestel.dat) depends on the E-WMS process used.
Reason
Since the rebranding of Pick-IT to E-WMS and E-Mobile Sales Entry in Globe 398, also the default E-WMS communication folder in System/General/Settings/E-WMS General had to be changed to C:\E-WMS. However, when you are updating Pick-IT to E-WMS 398, this setting is not changed in your existing settings, so will probably still be configured as C:\Pickit, or as a network share. The default folder C:\E-WMS will only automatically be set as default folder in new databases created after installing Globe 398 or higher.
However, there is a another part of E-WMS that uses this setting communication folder, and that is the file exeaPickITTool.exe.config in the BIN folder of Globe (default C:\Program Files\Exact Software\bin). This configuration file also contains C:\E-WMS as default folder after updating to Globe 398 or higher. This file has to be edited to contain the same folder as configured in System/General/Settings/E-WMS General.
Solution
If you received this error while sending transactions to a scanner, you will have to roll back the selected transaction(s) because, despite this error, the transaction(s) will be in status 'picking'.
There are two possible solutions to solve the error:
- Change the default communication folder to C:\E-WMS in System/General/Settings/E-WMS General, and create this folder on every PC using an E-WMS Control Center to avoid error messages. This is a once-only action.
- You will have to edit the file exeaPickITTool.exe.config after each Globe update, starting from release 398 with a text editor, changing the default value E-WMS to your own used folder:
Default configuration file C:\Program Files\Exact Software\BIN\exeaPickITTool.exe.config

Change this to the communication folder configured in System/General/Settings/E-WMS General, for example:

Copy this file to the Globe BIN folder on every workstation using an E-WMS Control Center.
