Introduction
This document describes the general settings for E-WMS Replenishment in menu System, General, Settings, E-WMS Replenishment,
as available per product update 413.
Description
The settings tab 'WMS Replenishment' contains settings specific for the stock
replenishment process of E-WMS. Besides these module settings, also
hand
terminal settings have to be configured.
You can jump directly to a specific settings section:
General
These settings apply to the general workings of the E-WMS Replenishment control center.
Communication
This setting determines the default method of sending transactions to, or reading transactions from the mobile devices. This document provides more information on E-WMS communication methods. When in Exact Globe Next maintenance of warehouses (E-WMS button) a specific communication type was configured, than that communication type will be used, instead of this one.
Ask user
When enabled, at each 'send' or 'read-back' in the control
center, the user is able to choose the communication method through a
pop-up window. Under normal circumstances this option should be disabled. In
practice this option will be used when you are communicating with different
types of hand terminals - for example wireless ASP hand terminals, and also with
CAB Activesync hand terminals. Please note it is not recommended to use several
communication methods in the same database. It also possible to predefine a communication type
per warehouse, in maintenance of 'warehouses'.
Scan code
Determines how an item is identified after scanning an item- or scan code in the 'item' field.
This document provides more information.
Default main warehouse
Configures the default issuing warehouse in menu WMS, To be processed, Inventory replenishment, Control center.
However, when you started the control center before, it will restore your previous used
screen selections, possibly overruling this setting.
Printer
This is the default printer used when printing E-WMS reports; this document provides more information.
Section: Auto queue
This settings section was introduced in product update 408, related to 'Real-time
replenishment'. In that specific scenario, replenishment orders need to be
generated all the time, using the E-WMS Autoqueue service, where replenishment
orders are not generated by replenishment logic but by sales order fulfilment
advice logic. In addition, the settings 'Requirements: Sales orders' and
'Requirements: Production orders' were added in release 412.
Auto queue can also be used when you want to automatically generate
replenishment orders and a picking advice, when not using Real-time replenishment.
Generate replenishment orders
Enabled: When the Autoqueue service is running, replenishment orders are
automatically generated. The interval of scanning for new requirements and
generating replenishment orders is determined by the 'TimerInterval'
configuration option in the
service configuration file.
When
the Sales order fulfilment
scenario setting is set to 'Scenario 1' (Real-time Replenishment), replenishment orders are not generated by E-WMS Replenishment
logic but by the E-WMS Sales order fulfilment process. This means, when 'scenario 1' is enabled,
this setting is not available (disabled) and is always applied as 'off'.
Disabled: Autoqueue for replenishment is not generating replenishment orders.
In case you are entering replenishment orders manually but would like to use
Autoqueue only for automatic advice generation and sending picking, this setting
can be disabled and the next setting 'Generate picking advice' can be enabled.
Requirements: Sales orders
When enabled, Auto queue will generate replenishment orders based on the
quantities for sales order requirements. When disabled, sales order requirements
are ignored.
This setting is available from release 412 and is only visible when your license
contains SE4000 E-Production. When not visible, this setting is regarded
'enabled'.
The setting cannot be changed when the
setting 'Generate replenishment orders' is disabled or when the setting
'Requirements only' is disabled.
Requirements: Production orders
When enabled, Auto queue will generate replenishment orders based on the
quantities for production order material requirements. When disabled, production
order requirements are ignored.
This setting is available from release 412 and is only visible when your
license contains SE4000 E-Production.
The setting cannot be changed when the
setting 'Generate replenishment orders' is disabled or when the setting
'Requirements only' is disabled.
Generate picking advice
When enabled,
the auto queue service will automatically generate a picking advice
for generated replenishment orders, or for manually entered replenishment
orders, or for orders which were created
earlier
but had insufficient stock available then. When disabled, no
advice will be generated automatically for new replenishment orders, and orders
will remain in status 'New'. Under normal circumstances, this setting should be
enabled when using Auto queue for replenishment. To automatically send generated
advices picking, the setting 'Immediate picking' in section 'Picking advice'
must be enabled as well.
When using 'Real-time Replenishment', replenishment orders (not the picking
advice) are created by the sales order process and not by the replenishment
process. In that case, Auto queue only (but always) needs to generate a picking
advice for the already available replenishment orders, so then this setting is
always 'on' and cannot be changed.
From all warehouses
By default this setting is disabled and auto queue will replenish the
picking location from a location within the same warehouse.
When enabled, auto queue will check all warehouses for available stock of the
item, starting with the first warehouse based on alphabetical order.
Section: Generate replenishment orders
These settings apply to the calculation of the requirement to be replenished.
Report settings
See document WMS Reports.
Immediate advising
When enabled, calculation of the picking advice is started automatically after
the requirement has been generated, when pressing the 'Generate' button in
control center Replenishment.
When disabled, the advice calculation has to be started manually for the
generated requirements, using the button 'Advice' (or button 'Process'
when editing a replenishment order). When using Auto queue for replenishment
orders, this setting should be enabled.
Days in advance
This setting applies to the setting 'Requirements only' and configures the number of days in the future for which planned sales orders and production orders should be included as 'requirement'. When applied, 'today' + 'days in advance' is compared to the delivery date on sales order line level or to the 'start date' on material line level, and all orders to be fulfilled until this date are included as requirement for replenishment. When set to 0 (zero) only orders to be fulfilled until 'today' are included.
Requirements only
This setting is of major importance and decides based on what needs
replenishment will be started: order based or minimum stock based.
When enabled, the replenishment requirement is calculated based on planned
fulfilment lines (sales orders and material lines for production orders), in
combination with configured minimum and maximum stock levels in either E-WMS
Item Locations or in item/warehouse management (item main location). When
disabled, the requirement is calculated based on minimum and maximum stock
levels in either E-WMS Item Locations or in item/warehouse management.
From release 412, this setting also determines whether additional order-based
selections are shown in control center Replenishment, and whether the settings
in section 'Generate replenishment orders - split orders' are available.
Stock Replenishment
This setting determines to what level the locations or warehouses will be
replenished:
- purchase order level: the location or warehouse
will be replenished until the configured minimum (purchase order) level, or
the required quantity for the orders is reached (the highest value of these
two levels is applied).
- maximum level: the
location or warehouse will be replenished until the configured maximum level
is reached
Production locations
When enabled, the replenishment process will only check for stock requirements
on the planned warehouse location
in the production order material line.
You still have to configure an
E-WMS item location for this location, to define the minimum and maximum stock levels.
When the planned issue location in the production order material line is empty, then replenishment
will act as with this setting disabled.
When disabled, the planned warehouse location in production orders is
disregarded and the standard rules for replenishment target locations are
applied.
This setting is
available from release 412 and is only visible when your license contains
SE4000 E-Production as well as SE1312 E-Warehouse location.
Section: Generate replenishment orders - Split orders
These settings were
introduced in release 412 and offer the possibility to generate separate replenishment orders per target (sales- or production) order.
The settings in this section are only available when the setting 'Requirements
only' is enabled.
A side effect of generating separate replenishment orders per target order is
that status messages in the control center report (generate orders) or in RF
monitor (Auto queue service) are shown seperately per target order: you will see
more messages than without splitting.
Also, the replenishment process does not 'remember' for which orders already a
replenishment order was generated. New replenishment orders are always generated
based on total requirements (not: requirements per order) and only after that,
optionally created as separate replenishment orders.
Sales order
When enabled, replenishment orders are generated separately per sales order,
which makes it possible to view the target sales order during the scan process.
When disabled, replenishment orders are collected and total requirements are
replenished.
Production order
When enabled, replenishment orders are generated separately per production
order, which makes it possible to view the target production order during the
scan process.
When disabled, replenishment orders are collected and total requirements are
replenished.
This setting is only visible when your license contains SE4000 E-Production.
Selection code
When enabled, replenishment orders are generated separately per selection code
(from the sales order or production order), which makes it possible to replenish
WMS 'urgent' orders separately.
When disabled, replenishment orders are collected and total requirements are
replenished.
Ask user
When enabled, an extra section 'Split orders' is available in control center
Replenishment 'Generate' screen, with the above mentioned split options.
When disabled, the split options are not shown in the control center and above
settings are always applied.
Section: Picking advice
The available settings depend on wheter SKU Management is used or not.
These settings apply to calculating the picking advice; what stock to
use to replenish from.
Include: allocated to stock
This setting determines if stock allocated to sales orders in the replenishment
source warehouse is to be regarded as not available for replenishment, when
replenishing between different warehouses. This provides the
possibility to leave stock in the source warehouse for (other) sales orders.
When enabled, the stock will be replenished from the free stock (shelf stock minus stock allocations and
minus E-WMS stock reservations). As stock allocations are on item/warehouse level only, replenishment will
preserve the allocated stock total level in the replenishment source warehouse, in any combination of warehouse locations or serial/batch numbers.
This could mean that you have insufficient source stock to replenish from.
When disabled, replenishment does not take Exact Globe Next stock allocations
into account, and will use the shelf stock (minus E-WMS stock reservations) to
replenish from. This is also the default behaviour when replenishing within the
same warehouse, since stock allocations do not matter in that case (since the
stock still remains in the same warehouse).
Calculation of 'free stock' is only done when the WMS General setting 'Check
stock/Stock'
is enabled, and when the item in question is a stock item (G/L stock
account=balance account). This setting is available from product update 400.
Check: minimum stock
This setting gives the possibility to manage the minimum stock level you want to preserve in total at the replenishment source warehouse for the item. It only affects the minimum level set on the item/warehouse
level ("Minimum PO level"); any minimum level configured per source location in
E-WMS
Item Locations is always preserved,
regardless of this setting. Typically, you would not configure E-WMS Item Locations
for source locations, unless you want to preserve minimum stock levels.
This setting was introduced in product update 400.
When enabled, replenishment will apply the minimum stock levels defined in either item/warehouse management or in WMS item locations, and regard these minimum levels as not available to replenish from. When minimum levels are defined both, the maximum of these two minimum levels is applied during the replenishment calculation.
This could mean that you have insufficient source stock, to replenish from.
When disabled, replenishment will only take the minimum stock levels for the source
location (if any configured in WMS Item Locations) into
account, but not on the item/warehouse level total level.
This setting is only applied when the WMS General setting 'Check stock/Stock'
is not set to 'No check' and 'Check stock/Free
stock' is enabled, and when the item in question is a stock item (G/L stock
account=balance account).
Picking advice
If this setting is enabled, Route Optimizing will be used to calculate a
serial/batch advice and a location advice for the calculated requirements.
If this setting is disabled, E-WMS will advice (available) stock from the item's default location
only. In contrast to using Sales order fulfilment without advice, Replenishment
advice will still perform a stock check and only advice the available stock on
the item default location.
Changing the setting (either to 'enabled' or to 'disabled') has impact on
E-WMS stock reservations. Please read
this document (section 'Changing the 'Picking advice' setting').
Serial/batch advice settings
Since this setting is available in several E-WMS modules, this setting is generally explained in this document.
SKU and location advice policy settings
Please see document
Picking advice: location policy and SKU policy.
Please note that for replenishment, these policies are applied separately per
replenishment line (per target location), and are not based on the total required
quantity per item if multiple target locations would be replenished.
Full SKU Replenishment
This setting is available only when SKU Management is enabled and was
introduced in product update 404.
This document provides more details on this setting. The setting provides
the possibility to configure how you generally want to handle replenishing from
SKUs, and offers the following choices. As a sample, a full SKU of 672 sales units
and a requirement of 50 sales units is used.
- Per sales unit (default value): default way
of replenishment, advice to just pick 50 from a pallet having 672 sales units.
The remainder of 622 is not transferred.
- Full SKU with DPA advice: will advice to
pick the whole SKU (holding 672 sales units), and will generate two advice
lines:
1. to put quantity 50 to the replenishment target location
2. to put remainder 622 to another (bulk type) location by a calculated
Directed Put Away advice. This location does not have to be the original
picking location, and from release 408 depends on the setting 'DPA policy'
(see next setting).
- Full SKU: will advise to just pick the
whole SKU (holding 672 sales units), and generates one advice line: to put
quantity 672 to the replenishment target location, instead of the actual
required 50 sales units.
This can also be regarded as rounding the
requirement to a full SKU (note: technically, the picking advice is
rounded to a full SKU, not the requirement).
When choosing this option, available free space on the target location is
not validated. It is assumed that the full pallet can be stored in the aisle
near the target location, when it does not fit on the target location.
This setting is also available in the configuration of SKU per item, in menu
WMS, Setup, SKU, SKU per item, which overrides this generic module
settings
DPA policy
This setting is available from release 408 and determines what logic is applied
when using 'Full SKU Replenishment' configured as 'Full SKU with DPA advice'.
Only then, this setting can be changed, and offers following choices:
- None: no specific put-away logic is used,
the alphabetically first free location configured as 'DPA target' and
suitable for the stock to be stored, will be advised
- Near item default location: the list of
possible DPA target locations is sorted by distance from the default item
location, then on preference and alphabetical order. This requires
configuration of 'location
distances'.
- Near source location: the list of possible
DPA target locations is sorted by distance from the picking source location,
then on preference and alphabetical order. This requires configuration of
'location
distances'.
Report settings
See document WMS Reports.
Immediate picking
When enabled, a picking advice is sent to the scanners
immediately after calculation of the advice.
When disabled, the calculated advice
remains in status "advice" where it can be viewed or edited. This advice has to be send to the scanners
manually.
When using Auto queue for replenishment, this setting should be enabled.
Section: Send to scanner
This section refers to the step of sending a replenishment advice to the scanners, to be picked.
File name
See document WMS 'file name' setting
Picking method
This setting determines the sort order of the lines sent to the scanner,
in combination with 'Picking method 2' and 'Picking method 3'.
This setting
determines the primary sort order for the lines to be picked. Possible choices are:
- By location:
Picking lines are primary sorted by warehouse location;
when 'picking
advice' was disabled: the item main location in the warehouse; when
'picking advice' was enabled: the advised location containing stock.
-
By item code:
Picking lines are primary sorted by item code
- By item classification: Picking lines are primary sorted by the
item
picking classification, as configured in item maintenance,
WMS button (available from product update 406)
- By item group: Picking lines are primary sorted by the item's
item group as configured in item maintenance, 'Financial' tab
(available from product update 406)
Picking method 2
and Picking method 3
These settings are available from product update 406, for E-WMS I (SE1380).
These settings offer additional sorting options to 'Picking method', and are
default set to '(none)'. In case your picking location contain more than item
code per location, you could add an additional sorting level.
Report settings
See document WMS Reports
Filter order lines
When enabled, an extra pop-up will show when sending orders to the scanners, which gives the possibility to split one or more sales orders to different scanners. See document WMS setting "Filter order lines".
This setting is available in E-WMS Replenishment since product update 402.
Assign specific scanner
See document WMS setting 'assign specific scanner'
Section: Send to scanner - split orders
The settings in this section are available from product update
408. You can automatically split generated replenishment orders into
separate orders, per item code or location, or combination. Please also see document
E-WMS Replenishment: sample of splitting orders automatically. Splitting
orders is only supported when working with communication method 'Scanner
- ASP'. This method of splitting orders is performed after the
replenishment orders and picking advices have been generated.
Item code
When enabled, replenishment orders will be split into separate orders per item
code, when sending to scanner.
Source location
When enabled, replenishment orders will be split into separate orders per
advised source location, when sending to scanner.
Target location
When enabled, replenishment orders will be split into separate orders per target
code, when sending to scanner.
Ask user
When enabled, the 'filter order lines' screen will show when sending
replenishment orders to be picked, offering the 'split criteria' as well, so you
can change these each time when sending picking. Default, these split criteria
will be the same as in the replenishment settings.
Section: Read back replenishment orders
These settings are used when reading back picked replenishment
lines, either manually from within the control center or automatically by the replenishment RF service. Transactions
can be read back as soon as they are 'ready' on the hand terminals.
File name
See document WMS 'file name' setting
Report settings
See document WMS Reports
Immediate validation
When this setting is enabled, the 'validation' process will automatically start after reading back and the transactions will move to status "validated" or "picking error". When disabled, transactions stay in status "picked" until the button "Validate" is used. This setting should be enabled when using the RF service for Replenishment to allow for full automatic processing.
Section: Automatic validation
These settings are applied when the transactions are validated, either manually in the control center or automatic by the Replenishment RF service.
Report settings
See document WMS Reports
Immediate processing
When enabled, validated transactions will be processed as Exact Globe Next shelf
stock, immediately after successful validation.
When disabled, processing has to be started manually from the status "validated" in the control center.
This setting should be enabled when using the Replenishment RF service.
Allow transferring more
Enabled: when picking 'more' than advised, this is processed without further notification.
Disabled: picking
'more' results in status 'picking error' which has to be approved and processed
manually.
Allow transferring less
Enabled: when less units than advised are picked, this is processed without further notification.
Disabled: less picking results in status 'picking error' which has to be approved.
Section: manual validation
These settings are applied when opening transactions
in the control center, typically from status 'picking error', and determine whether
it is allowed to process specific lines.
Allow transferring more
When enabled, it is possible to process lines where more was issued than
planned.
When disabled, it is not possible to process 'more' fulfilments.
Allow transferring less
When enabled, it is possible to process lines where less was issued than
planned.
When disabled, it is not possible to process 'less' fulfilments.
Section: Process
These settings are applied when processing
replenishment lines.
