A competency profile for a job group, job activity, job title, project, or vacancy is a template consisting of a set of competences with norm values assigned. The norm values assigned to a job group, job activity, or job title reflect the acceptable requirements that are needed by the person to perform the job as specified in the job group, job activity, or job title. The norm values assigned to a project are used to define the requirements that are needed by the person to be involved in the particular project.
Meanwhile, the norm values assigned to a vacancy are used to specify the requirements that are needed by an applicant to fulfill the vacancy. A competency profile for a vacancy proves useful during the matching of a vacancy to applicants or vice versa, whereby it can be used to shortlist the most suitable applicants for the vacancy or to shortlist the most suitable vacancies for an applicant. Thus a vacancy must have a competency profile and the norm values of the competences assigned before it can be used to perform matching.
