Creating and modifying competences

Introduction
On this page, you can create competences without the need to link them to competence groups, or edit existing competences in the system.
Note: This menu path will only be available if you set the competency method to Advanced in the HRM general settings. For more information, see Defining HRM general settings.
Roles and rights
To create and modify competences, function right 508 – Maintain payroll components is required. Users with the HR role have this function right.

What version are you using?
The information in this document is based on product update 251.
How do I create competences?
- On the HRM: Competences page, click New. The HRM: Competence - New page will be displayed.
- Define the required information.
- Click Save to save the entry, or Save + New to save the entry and to create another competence.
Keep in mind: All fields with the "!" icon are mandatory.
How do I modify existing competences?
- On the HRM: Competences page, click the corresponding hyperlink under the Code column.
- Click Edit.
- Make the necessary changes, and then click Save.
Buttons
Save
Click this to save the entry.
Save + New
Click this to save the entry and to create another competence.
Note: This is available only if you are creating a competence.
Delete
Click this to delete the competence.
Note: This is available only if you are modifying a competence.
Close
Click this to exit.
Fields
Code
Type a unique code for the competence. You can type up to 20 alphanumeric characters, and the alphabet letters are in capital.
Description
Type the description of the competence.
Field type
Select the field type to be used for the competence.
Weight
Type the number to define the weighting factor of the competence. This value will be used during the calculation of ratings in the competency profiles and scores for the applicant-vacancy matching process.
Link
Select a competence to be linked to this competence. By default, the browser will show the competences with the same field type, of the same type (competence/target agreement/performance indicator), and competences which have not been previously linked to other competences. By linking a competence, the value or rating for this to be created competence will automatically follow the value or rating of the linked competence. However, the value or rating can always be changed manually.
Policy
Select a policy document to be attached to this competence.
Notes
Type any additional note for the competence.
