E-WMS picking advice (Route Optimizing) does not advise the expected stock, batch or SKU number
Pick-IT
Introduction
When using E-WMS Sales Order Fulfilment you can E-WMS advice the best stock,
and for batch items automatically have the
oldest batches picked first for fulfilment. This advice logic depends on the
settings configured for 'picking advice'. In some cases Route Optimizing may not advice the
stock or batch you expected. This document lists the
known possible reasons for this unexpected advice.
Description
After generating a new picking advice in Exact Globe Next menu WMS, To be processed, Order
fulfilment, Control Center, the advised batch is not what you expected,
or the report says there is insufficient stock. This may be because of one of the following reasons:
- The stock is not available (yet) because of pending transactions in
E-WMS. You can use WMS, Reports, Item/Stock View to see the available
and reserved stock positions.
- The stock is located at a 'bulk' type location and bulk locations can be ignored
by E-WMS, depending the configured advice location policies in
menu
System, General, Settings, WMS Sales Order Fulfilment, section 'Fulfilment:
picking advice'.
- The stock is allocated to another sales order using
WMS Allocations (from release 410). Please note that stock allocations to
orders only exist on warehouse total level (unless a serial/batch number was
entered in the order line).
- The stock is located at a blocked
(for issue) warehouse location
- You used Exact Globe Next
'enrichment' for the sales order. Enrichment is not supported by
E-WMS.
- When the item main location is advised, instead of a location with enough
stock:
- When an empty location is advised: the item main location is not configured,
and see above (item main location).
When using Serial/Batch items
- The batch is already expired. When the batch end date is filled with a date before 'today', the batch will be ignored by
E-WMS. You can check the batch end date in Inventory, Items, Maintain (select and open item), tab Serial/Batch.
-
You configured a minimum shelf life factor (introduced
in release 407) for your customer, but the expected batch does not meet that criterion
- The batch is blocked. This can also be checked in
Inventory, Items, Maintain (select and open item), tab Serial/Batch.
- The debtor setting 'split lot' is disabled - which will cause to advise only a
single batch which has enough for the order requirement. This setting can be found in
Finance, Accounts Receivable, Maintain (select and open debtor), button
E-WMS.
- The advice setting 'SB advice policy' is not configured as you expected (in
System, General, Settings,
WMS Sales Order Fulfilment, section 'Fulfilment: Picking advice', setting 'SB advice policy')
- A batch number was already entered ('allocated') in the order line. If a batch or serial number is entered in the sales order line,
E-WMS will use that batch only and not apply the 'SB advice policy'
(not an advised method of working with E-WMS and having products with expiration
dates)
- The batch was entered in the order line but there was not enough available
stock of that specific batch
- The batch you expected to be advised is unavailable because of allocations
for that item to other sales orders, and that specific batch number was also
entered as 'allocation' in other sales order lines
-
WMS Allocations is enabled and also the Exact Globe Next order setting
'Generate project' is enabled (or a project code is linked to the sales order,
in the order header), but no WMS allocation exists for that project and batch
stock (release 410)
When using SKU Management - a quantity less than a full SKU is required, but the SKU or location
(WMS location type properties) does not allow
breaking up the SKU
- there was a
specific SKU type configured for this customer but stock is not
available on that SKU type
- The expected SKU number is allocated to another sales order using
WMS Allocations (from release 410)
-
WMS Allocations is enabled and also the Exact Globe Next order setting
'Generate project' is enabled (or a project code is linked to the sales order,
in the order header), but no WMS allocation exists for that project and SKU
stock (release 410)
