Creating and maintaining master purchase schedule
Introduction
The master purchase schedule enables you to plan purchases based on previous purchase scenarios. The planned purchases are then reflected as requirements in the MRP (Material Requirement Planning), and thus ensuring that the quantities of materials purchased are optimized in relation to the expected production requirements. In addition, you can also compare the stock levels with the purchase requirements (in the master purchase schedules) at MRP for better monitoring.
When the master purchase schedule has expired, you can compare the schedule with the purchase history to see if the expectations have been realized. This is an important step as it can provide important information for drawing up a better master purchase schedule for a new period.
Note: It is possible to generate a main purchase plan only for items with a purchase attribute (at Inventory ➔ Items ➔ Maintain, open a selected item, under the Purchase or Sales tab, select the Buy check box).
Menu path
Go to Inventory ➔ Item management ➔ Master Purchase Schedule, define the search criteria, and then click Start.
Description
Warehouse
The warehouse for which the schedule is generated is displayed. This information cannot be modified as it is based on the entered selection criterion.
Date
The date range for which the schedule is generated is displayed. This information cannot be modified as it is based on the entered selection criterion.
Budget scenario
The budget scenario for which the schedule is generated is displayed. This information cannot be modified as it is based on the entered selection criterion.
Cost center
Select a cost center to create the plan for the selected cost center. This information is mandatory.
Cost Unit
Select a cost unit to create the schedule for the selected cost unit.
Debtor
Select a debtor to create the schedule for the selected debtor.
Creditor
Select a creditor of to create the schedule for the selected creditor.
Resources
Select a resource to create the schedule for the selected resource.
Project
Select a project to create the schedule for the selected project.
Note: This option is available only if E-Project is included in your license.
After defining the criteria, fill in an estimate of the quantity that must be purchased for each item, and in each period. This information is saved when you click Close.
