How-to: Installing Exact Word Merge Integrator
Introduction
Exact Word Merge Integrator makes use of Windows Services for the merging process. There is no background job needed for the process. The services are installed on the server, running, and waiting for any requests for Word Merge. Whenever a request for merging is initiated, the services will pick up the request and process it immediately.
Word Merge does not require Microsoft Office to be installed on the server.
Note: From product update 262 onwards, the solution will only be supported on Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS), and will no longer be supported on the MSI version. Note that the installation files for the MSI version will no longer be available from this product update onwards. In the case that you decide to continue using the existing solution on the MSI version, the synchronization will remain to work as usual although any issues that may be encountered will no longer be resolved henceforth. Therefore, it is advisable to migrate to ELIS to ensure that the solution will continue to work correctly.

Installing Exact Word Merge Integrator
-
Run the development package ExactWordMerge x86.msi (for the 32-bit environment) or ExactWordMerge x64.msi (for the 64-bit environment) at the server side. This can be found in the cab folder of the Exact Synergy Enterprise installation folder.
Note:

If Exact Synergy Enterprise is installed in C:\Program Files on the 64-bit environment, you will need to install the 64-bit version. Otherwise, install the 32-bit version of Exact Word Merge Integrator.
-
If Exact Synergy Enterprise is installed in "C" drive, the ExactWordMerge x86.msi or ExactWordMerge x64.msi installation must be started with administrator rights. The MSI file can be started with administrator rights at the command prompt by running the administrator rights in the command prompt, for example, msiexec /I "D:\Exact\devSMS\cab\ExactWordMerge x64.msi". This is required because the MSI installation will also update the Word Merge macro manager file (Exact.MacroManager.WordMerge.config) that is on the Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Word Merge installation paths. Thus, if the path is in "C" drive, administrator rights will be required for the update.
