This page allows you to view information on the project and the project members, and indicates the planning period in accordance with the start and end dates of the project. The date range can be adjusted although it will be set to the current month by default. You will also be able to create, edit, and delete requests from within the planning board, search for employees to be added as project members to a selected project, and plan the hours for multiple or recurring days for project members. It is quite often that you need to assign one employee or more to a project and you need to check several different planning to see who is available. Professional services automation (PSA) uses selection options to show the capacity of all employees in one overview.
Note: There are two planning boards available for usage. The drag-and-drop planning board has been introduced in product update 250. To use this planning board, select the Use drag-and-drop planning check box under the General section of the project card. If this check box is not selected, the old planning board will be used.
To view the Project planning page, function right 889 - Plan hours & expenses is required. By default, users with the Project administration, Hour planning, or Project planner role have this function right.

The information in this document is applicable to product update 251 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

This information is pre-filled from the project card and displays the project code and name. For more information, see Viewing project cards.

This information is pre-filled from the project card. It displays the start and end dates of the project. For more information, see Viewing project cards. Select the available options from the drop-down menu under this field. Depending on your selection, the corresponding dates will be updated once you click the Refresh button. However, if <Range> is selected, you need to select the dates manually after refreshing the page. The planning based on the selected time period will be displayed in the planning board section.
Select this check box to include weekends in the planning board.
Select this check box to include child projects in the planning board.
Note: The Show child projects check box is visible only in the following situations:
Type or select an employee ID to display the availability of the selected employee.
Type or select a cost center to display the availability of all employees linked to this cost center.
Type or select an employee ID to display the availability of all subordinates of this manager.
Select a job group to display the availability of all employees in this job group. The job group is defined at Modules ? HRM ? Setup ? General ? Job groups. For more information, see Creating and modifying job groups.
Select My private, Public from my cost center, Public from my division, or All Public to display the search template categorized under the selected group. Once you select a group, the templates categorized under the group will be displayed in alphabetical order. You can search for employees based on the criteria defined in the selected template, other than the birthday, continent, contractual location, cost center, cost unit, FTE, job activity, job group, job level, layout 1 (group layout), physical location, project, region, and security level. Type a skill to search for active employees, contractors, students and temporary staff based on the defined skill and the criteria defined in the selected template, as long as no skill is defined in the template. Click the Starts with, Contains, or Equal to icon to search for the skill that starts with, contains, or equal to a certain letter or word.
This section displays the project members for the selected project, the hours planned for the project members, and the Available capacity column for all project members. The values shown next to the project member's name and title refer to the available hours per day for that person. The view in the planning board changes with the selection of the time period, affecting the X-axis (top row) and Y-axis (first column on the left). The table below provides an explanation of the different views available.
