Multi language

Introduction

Exact Financials has a unique multi language functionality: in one and the same company different users can operate in their own language. The multi language functionality is dual. Firstly the language of the application can be set: fieldnames and descriptions which are represented on the screen by the programmer can be displayed in a language of preference which is to be set per user. Exact Financials supports next application languages:

• German
• American English
• Spanish
• French
• Italian
• Dutch
• Flemish
• Portuguese

Secondly when creating the descriptions of your own created master data, you can give a translation. Besides the definition of the application  language the user can indicate as well in which language he or she wishes the descriptions (made by you) to be displayed in overviews. 

Configuration Multi language

Before using Multi language, the settings have to be defined.

Settings

Select application language

In [Finance: File, User preferences] you can set the application language on tab 'General'.

Define Multi language

Go to [System: File, System settings] and mark on tab 'Languages' the option 'Multi language'. Enter subsequently the descriptions for Language from 1 up to and including 5. These descriptions will be displayed when creating the master data as soon as the button 'Multi language' is pressed.

Select Multi language

In [Finance: File, User preferences] on tab 'General' you can set the Multi language. When using regular descriptions, you select here 'Standard language'.

You have to maintain the next master data:

Master data in general

During creation /modification of master data, you can use the button 'Multi language'. As soon as you push this button, besides the regular description of the master data, you can enter the translations in the defined multi languages. Within your company you arrange the 'default' language and will use this for the filling of the 'normal' description fields. 

Information

Using Multi language functionality, in overviews the description of the master data will be filled with the description as defined with the language as selected by the user.

Example
An international company has 'English' as default official language. The department in Belgium has Dutch (Flemish) speaking as well as French speaking employees. The description of the master data is recorded in English. Also the multi languages Flemish (Multi language 1) and French (Multi language 2) are defined. Users enter into the User preferences the wanted application language and the wanted multi language. An English speaking colleague selects American English as application language as a result of which all terms in the program are displayed in English. As Multi language this employee selects the 'standard language' as a result of which the regular descriptions of the master data will be displayed in the overviews. The French speaking employee in the Belgium department select French as application language and also French as multi language. The Dutch (or Flemish) speaking employee selects respectively Dutch and Flemish as application language and Multi language.
