Product Update 397: Invalid Bank Identifier Codes Accepted in Japanese Cash Instruments

Introduction

Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is a single integrated payment environment for countries within the SEPA region, such as countries in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. Exact Globe supports SEPA credit transfers since release 390 and can be enabled with a setting. For more information, see Release 390: SEPA for Exact Globe. As a result of the implementation, only a valid Bank Identifier Code (BIC) is accepted in a cash instrument entry screen.

However, in the Japanese cash instruments, the field for defining the BIC is used for defining contract numbers. The contract number is mandatory for performing e-banking transactions with all Japanese banks. Since SEPA is not applicable to the Japanese cash instruments, an invalid BIC will be accepted in a Japanese cash instrument. As a result, the mandatory information can still be made available in Japanese cash instrument entries.

Menu path

To obtain an overview of cash instruments, go to Cash flow/Cash instruments/Maintain. Then, click New or Open to create a cash instrument entry or open the selected entry. Then, click the Settings tab.

What has been changed

If you select Japan at Country in the Basics tab of a cash instrument entry, you can define another value other than a valid BIC at the BIC code field.
