Important things to note when uninstalling Exact Compact or Exact Globe Next and installing Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+

Before you proceed with uninstalling Exact Compact or Exact Globe Next and installing Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+, there are important things to consider. Read and follow the steps provided below: 

1. Before uninstalling Exact Compact / Exact Globe Next
• Check the SQL Server name
• Create backups of your companies and note down the back-up location
2. After installing Exact Compact+ / Exact Globe+
• Connect to the SQL server and companies
• Activate Excel add-in

Before uninstalling Exact Compact / Exact Globe Next

Check the SQL Server name

After you have installed Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+, you must connect to the SQL Server where the databases of the companies are stored. We recommend that you note down the SQL server name before uninstalling Exact Compact / Exact Globe Next, so you can quickly reconnect after installing Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+.

1. Start Exact Globe Next or Exact Compact.
2. On the Open Company screen, click Advanced.
3. In the Server field, note down the name of the SQL Server that is displayed for your reference.

Create backups of your companies and note down the back-up location

Before uninstalling Exact Compact / Exact Globe Next, it is important to create backups of your companies. We recommend that you note down the location where you store the backups, so you can keep track of where they are stored. You can also store the new backups in the same location.

1. The steps to create a backup in Exact Compact and Exact Globe Next are described in the document Maken van de back-up in Exact Compact and How-to: Creating database backups in Exact Globe Next.
2. Make sure to note down the Directory and Database Directory or take a screenshot. This helps you identify the back-up location in case you need to restore the backup. Additionally, this helps to make sure that you can use the same directory when creating new backups in Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+,  so new back-ups are stored in the same location.

After installing Exact Compact+ / Exact Globe+

Connect to the SQL server and companies

After installing Exact Compact+ or Exact Globe+, you must connect to the SQL Server where the databases of the companies are stored.

1. Start Exact Globe+ / Exact Compact+.
2. Click Open.
3. On the right, the company panel shows the list of companies that are already connected.
4. In the bottom right, click Advanced to link another company.
5. At Server, type or select the name of your SQL Server.
6. At Company, type or select the number of your company.
7. Click Open.
8. The company is now opened and added to the list of available companies.
9. If you have more companies to link, repeat the steps above to connect these companies to the server.

Activate the Excel add-in

After installing Exact Globe+, the Excel add-in for Exact Globe+ is available in the Add-ins menu of Microsoft Excel. If this is not the case, you must activate it:

1. Start Microsoft Excel.
2. Go to File > Options.
3. Click Add-ins.
4. At Manage, select Add-ins and click Go.
5. Select Exact Globe+ and click OK.
