System requirements for Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS)

Introduction

The Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS) solution provides an easy way of deploying and managing the external solutions of Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe Next, such as Exact Integrator, Exact Word Merge, Exact Shop Floor Control, and others.

ELIS allows administrators to centrally manage all the servers and solutions from a single location. Moreover, ELIS has a built-in notification system to notify administrators or other users regarding the issues in the solutions or products through emails or request alerts.

Scope

This document describes the software requirements of ELIS as of product update 253 for Exact Synergy Enterprise and 408 for Exact Globe Next.

Prerequisites

Ports 8013 and 8050 must be opened for the ELIS server to communicate efficiently with the other servers.

Port 8013 is used for the ELIS services. Currently, it is used by the ELIS engine and ELIS console. It can also be used by external sources such as Exact Globe Next and Exact Synergy Enterprise.

Port 8050 is used to communicate between the listener and dispatcher during the synchronization. For more information, see Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS) process flow.

Note:

Internet connection is mandatory for Exact Globe Next, Exact Synergy Enterprise, and ELIS.
The application servers (for example ELIS, Exact Globe Next, and Exact Synergy Enterprise) must have the same time zone as the database servers. The application servers (for example ELIS, Exact Globe Next, and Exact Synergy Enterprise) must have the same time zone as the database servers.

Requirements

ELIS contains the following components:

Server — ELIS has to be installed only in the ELIS server. The server contains several Microsoft Windows services that run and manage ELIS internally. Therefore, the server can be accessed through the services.
Management console — This console can be used to manage the ELIS server for installing new add-ons, viewing the event log, or monitoring the integration status. The administrators can access the ELIS server through the management console from all the computers in the network.

Note: It is not recommended to install the ELIS services and Entity services for Exact Globe Next on the same machine where the database server (Microsoft SQL server) is installed.

ELIS server component

The ELIS server component includes all the Microsoft Windows services that are required for ELIS to operate properly. The requirements for the server are as follows:

Operating system — Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2012R2 and above (32-bit or 64-bit is supported)
Database — Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above
Microsoft .NET framework 4.7 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 261 onwards, and Exact Globe Next product update 416 onwards), or Microsoft .NET framework 4.5 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 260 and below, and Exact Globe Next product update 415 and below)
Microsoft Messaging Queue
SMTP server (for the alert function in ELIS)
Processor: 1 x Intel Xeon 4 Cores
Internal memory: 4 GB
Microsoft SQL TDE is supported

Note: Installing more add-on solutions will require an increase of internal memory as well.

ELIS management component

The management console allows the administrators to manage and maintain the ELIS functionalities from the remote computers on the network. The software requirements for the management console are as follows:

Operating system — Microsoft Windows 8.1, Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2012R2 and above (32-bit or 64-bit is supported)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 261 onwards, and Exact Globe Next product update 416 onwards), or Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 260 and below, and Exact Globe Next product update 415 and below)

ELIS dispatcher

The dispatcher is a lightweight Microsoft Windows service that helps products send offline messages to the ELIS server. This component must be installed on the web server (if using Exact Synergy Enterprise) or Exact Globe Next clients. This component requires the following pre-requisites:

Operating system — Microsoft Windows 8.1, Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2012R2 and above (32-bit or 64-bit is supported)
Microsoft .NET Framework — Version 4.7 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 261 onwards, and Exact Globe Next product update 416 onwards), version 4.5(for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 260 and below, and Exact Globe Next product update 415 and below), or version 4.0 (for Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 253 and Exact Globe Next product update 408)
Microsoft Messaging Queue

Note: From Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 253 and Exact Globe Next product update 408 onwards, these components will be installed or updated automatically when you run the product updater. For the other product updates, you have to install the components by using the installer.

Products supporting ELIS

Not all the Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe Next product updates support ELIS. Thus, ensure the latest product updates are used.

Exact Synergy Enterprise supports ELIS from product update 253 onwards.
Exact Globe Next supports ELIS from product update 408 onwards.

Products not supported by ELIS

Exact Globe Next with extended functionality is not supported by ELIS.
