General section
Layout
Type or select a document layout for the operation slip. Document layouts are maintained at System ? General ? Settings, under Documents settings.
Block
Select this check box to block the operation from being selected in the bill of materials (BOM) and production order entry. By default, the check box is not selected.
Print
Select this check box to enable printing of the operation slip together with the production order. If the check box is selected but the Layout field is blank, then the system will print the operation slip according to the default layout defined in the Operation field at System ? General ? Settings, under Documents settings.
Instructions
To maintain instructions for the operation, click , and then type the instruction. Click OK to save the instruction. You can define only one instruction for each operation.
Outsourced item
Type or select an outsourced item in order to create an operation to be used for outsourcing purposes.
Machine section
Work centre
Type or select a work center for this operation, for which the machine hours are calculated.
Keep in mind: Work centers can be defined at Assets ? Assets ? Asset groups. The asset group will appear here for selection when a machine is linked to an asset group. A machine is linked to an asset group of an asset at the
Group field in the
General ledger accounts section at Manufacturing ? Setup ? Machines.
Machine
Type or select a machine for this operation, for which the machine hours are calculated.
Keep in mind: If the work center is selected in the
Work center field, then only machines linked to the selected work center can be selected.
Machine hour
Type or select a machine hour for this operation.
Keep in mind: If a machine is selected in the
Machine field, then only machine hours linked to the selected machine can be selected. This is mandatory if
Outsourced item or
Labor hour is not specified.
Labour section
Cost centre
Type or select the cost center for this operation for which the labor hours are calculated.
Person
Type or select the person for this operation, for whom the labor hours are calculated.
Keep in mind: If a person is selected at Person, then only labor hours linked to the selected person can be selected. This is mandatory if Outsourced item or Machine hour is not specified.
Labour hour
Type or select the labor hour item for this operation.
Keep in mind: If a person is selected in the Person field, then only labor hours linked to the selected person can be selected. This is mandatory if Outsourced item or Machine hour is not specified.
Time section
Operating time
Type the operating time required for the machine hour and labor hour.
Labour/machine ratio
Type the ratio of labor hours required per machine hour, per operation.
For example:
Operation: CUTTING
Operation time: 1 hour
Machine hour: 1 hour
Labor hour: 2 hours
Labor / machine ratio: 2
Keep in mind: Labor hours are split into two lines in the BOM. The default value for each line is "1". The BOM lines can be edited only when both the machine and labor hour are filled.
Setup section
Labour hour (Setup)
Type or select the labor hours required to set up the operation. When the operation is copied to the BOM, the condition in the BOM will be Once Per Production.
Operating time (Setup)
Type the time required to set up the operation. When the operation is copied to the BOM, the condition in the BOM will be Once Per Production.
Scheduled resources
Fill in a number to define the maximum number of labors who can work on the job operation or the maximum number of machines that can operate in the work center at the same time.
Restrictions
Select Labour or Machine to indicate whether the sum of hours in job operations goes by labor or machine hours.
Finite schedule
Select this check box to indicate this schedule as finite. Clear this check box if this is infinite.
- Finite — Throughput is limited by the available capacity of the work center. This will be an option for bottleneck work centers. Once a work center reaches 100% capacity, all other job operations to be scheduled at that time are pushed out to the next available capacity.
- Infinite — Schedules job operations without regard to the load and capacity of the work center they are going to run through.
Select
Select the check box that corresponds to the shift that you want to link to this operation.
Shift
This column displays the code of the shift.
Scheduled resources
Fill in a number to define the maximum number of labors who can work on the job operation or the maximum number of machines that can operate in the work center at the same time. By default, the number is taken from the Scheduled resources field when the check box is selected in the Select column.
Weekly capacity
This column displays the calculated run time and cannot be edited. The calculation is done using this formula:
Scheduled resources x Sum of (Work hours for each shift - Scheduling break for each shift)
Child operations section
Parent
This field displays the code of the parent operation. This field is always disabled.
Keep in mind: The parent-child relationship can only be one level down.
Click this to add a child operation to the operation.
Keep in mind: The default operation, parent operation, and operation that acts as a child operation in another operation cannot be added.
Click this to remove a child operation from the operation.
Operation
This column displays the code of the child operation.
