Introduction

This page allows you to set up free fields used in opportunity cards. The types of free fields available for customization are:

Text
Date
Amount
Yes/No
Number

You can define up to 10 fields for Text and up to five fields for the other fields.

Roles and rights

To set up, modify, and remove the free fields, function right 604 – Maintain opportunity master data is required. Users with the General manager, Customer manager, or Marketing manager role have this function right.

How do I set up or modify the labels defined for the free fields?

On the Opportunities: Free fields page, click the hyperlink of the corresponding free field under the Name column.
Define the required information, and then click Save.

Fields

The section displayed is dependent on the type of free field for which you are defining the label.

Date section

You can use the Date field to display information that is related to time. For example, a commitment date to confirm on a deal. You can define up to five Date fields.

Label

Type a label to identify the date information. You can type up to 30 alphanumeric characters. The label for the date information will be displayed in the Free fields section in the opportunity card.

Indexes

Select an option to specify the action to be taken on the index for the free field.

Update: No — Select this option to indicate that no action is to be taken on the existing index. If the index does not exist, there will be no action taken to delete it or create one either. This option is selected by default.
Delete — Select this option to delete the index.
Create — Select this option to create an index for the free field.

Amount section

You can use the Amount field to specify the total sales price, cost of goods, and sales margin for the opportunity. You can define up to five Amount fields.

Label

Type a label to identify the amount information. You can type up to 30 alphanumeric characters. The label for the amount information will be displayed in the Free fields section in the opportunity card.

Indexes

Select an option to specify the action to be taken on the index for the free field.

Update: No — Select this option to indicate that no action is to be taken on the existing index. If the index does not exist, there will be no action taken to delete it or create one either. This option is selected by default.
Delete — Select this option to delete the index.
Create — Select this option to create an index for the free field.

Text section

You can use the Text field to specify the additional information related to the opportunity. You can define up to 10 Text fields.

Label

Type a label to identify the text information. You can type up to 30 alphanumeric characters. The label for the text information will be displayed in the Free fields section in the opportunity card.

Indexes

Select an option to specify the action to be taken on the index for the free field.

Update: No — Select this option to indicate that no action is to be taken on the existing index. If the index does not exist, there will be no action taken to delete it or create one either. This option is selected by default.

Yes/No section

You can use the Yes/No field to specify whether a property or condition is used. You can define up to five Yes/No fields.

Label

Type a label to identify the Yes/No information. You can type up to 30 alphanumeric characters. The label for the Yes/No information will be displayed in the Free fields section in the opportunity card.

Indexes

Select an option to specify the action to be taken on the index for the free field.

Update: No — Select this option to indicate that no action is to be taken on the existing index. If the index does not exist, there will be no action taken to delete it or create one either. This option is selected by default.
Delete — Select this option to delete the index.
Create — Select this option to create an index for the free field.

Number section

You can use the Number field to specify the total and percentage values for the opportunity. You can define up to five Number fields.

Label

Type a label to identify the numeric information. You can type up to 30 alphanumeric characters. The label for the numeric information will be displayed in the Free fields section in the opportunity card.

Indexes

Select an option to specify the action to be taken on the index for the free field.

Update: No — Select this option to indicate that no action is to be taken on the existing index. If the index does not exist, there will be no action taken to delete it or create one either. This option is selected by default.
Delete — Select this option to delete the index.
Create — Select this option to create an index for the free field.
