How to: Uninstalling Elasticsearch
Introduction
This document describes the steps to uninstall
Elasticsearch.
Elasticsearch is used for searching feeds in the timeline
(see How-to: Enabling search for feeds in
timeline) and for the Search All feature (see How-to: Installing and configuring Search
All feature).
By uninstalling Elasticsearch, the Elasticsearch service
will be removed from the web server. This will not affect your Exact Synergy
Enterprise installation, but you will not be able to use Elasticsearch as a search provider for
searching feeds in the timeline or use the Search All feature.
Uninstalling Elasticsearch
- Open the command prompt. Right-click and select Run as administrator.
- Locate the bin folder of your Elasticsearch
installation. For example, c:\Program Files\Exact Synergy
Enterprise\elasticsearch-6.6.2\bin and copy the location of this folder as
highlighted in the following screen:

- In the command prompt window, type: cd
<space> and paste the location of your Elasticsearch bin folder and press
ENTER.

- Type: elasticsearch-service.bat remove and press ENTER.

- Depending on your operating system and settings,
a user account control message may be displayed. Click Yes to continue.
- The message “The service
'elasticsearch-service-x86' has been removed” or “The service
'elasticsearch-service-x64' has been removed” will be displayed in command
prompt window.
- Elasticsearch is now uninstalled. To be able to
still search the feeds in the timeline, you have to select a different search
provider at Modules ? System ?
Setup ? Social Collaboration ? Settings. For more
information, see Defining social collaboration settings
and How-to: Enabling search for feeds in
timeline.
