At this page, you can create assets for the selected division.
Assets/Entry/Entry/Asset
To create assets, function right 416 - Maintain Fixed Assets and Purchase Contracts is required. Users with the General manager, Controller, F&A staff, Item management, and Item number assigner roles have this function right.
For more details on what you can do with function rights or levels, go to System/Setup/Security/Function rights, select the required module, and then click on the relevant ID. To find out the functions you can perform with a particular role, go to System/Setup/Security/Roles, type in the description, click Refresh, and then click the required link under the Role column.
Click this to save the created asset.
Click this to save the asset and create a new asset.
Click this to exit.
Type a serial number for the new asset. This is mandatory. A serial number is normally used to identify the available assets. You can have the same serial number but the item that you select must be different. The serial number that you enter is combined with the item code by the system to differentiate the uniqueness of each asset created.
Note: Once a serial number/item code combination has been used for an asset, you may not use this combination again.
Type a description for the new asset. This is mandatory.
By default, the status is displayed as Active.
Note: This field is enabled only when you modify the created asset.
Select a parent or main asset for the created asset, if applicable.
Type or select an item for the created asset. This is mandatory. For more information, see Viewing Item Cards.
Note: You can only view and select active items with serial numbers. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Items.
By default, no data is displayed at this field. This field will display the entry number when there is a financial transaction linked to the asset.

Note: The investment amount for an asset is usually entered from the Financial: Entry page. For more information, see Creating Financial Entries.
Type or select an investment date for the created asset. This is mandatory.
Select the type of asset acquisition from the available options.
Select Car or Machine to determine whether the created asset belongs to the vehicle or machine category, if applicable.
Type or select the primary depreciation method for the created asset. The selected method is used to calculate the budgeted depreciation for the asset. This is mandatory. For more information, see Creating Depreciation Methods.
By default, the depreciation type for the asset is displayed. The displayed depreciation type is derived from the primary depreciation method you select at Method: Primary.
By default, the depreciation period for the asset is displayed. The displayed depreciation period is derived from the primary depreciation method you select at Method: Primary.
Type or select the depreciation start date for the created asset. This determines when the calculation of the budgeted depreciation should start. The following conditions are applied by the system when you type or select the depreciation start date:
Type or select the depreciation end date for the created asset. This determines when the calculation of the budgeted depreciation should end.
Note: The depreciation end date can be automatically entered when you click Calculate next to the End date to calculate the budgeted depreciation. Calculate is displayed only when you have entered the investment amount. To display the list of budgeted depreciation, you can use the Depreciation plan report. For more information, see Displaying Depreciation Plans.
Type a residual value for the asset. This is the remaining or salvage value of the created asset after it is fully depreciated.
Type or select the secondary depreciation method for the created asset. The selected method is used to calculate the secondary budgeted depreciation for the asset. This depreciation method is also used for reporting purposes. For more information, see Creating Depreciation Methods.
Select or type an asset group for the created asset. This determines which asset group the created asset belongs to. This is mandatory.
By default, the general ledger account for the asset is displayed. The displayed account is based on the settings you create from Asset groups. For information, see Creating and Modifying Asset Groups.
By default, the profit & loss general ledger account for depreciation of asset is displayed. The displayed account is based on the settings you create from Asset groups. For information, see Creating and Modifying Asset Groups.
Under this section, you can type or select additional free fields that you wish to create for the purchase contract. You can create additional information in terms of text, amount, value, date, or by options.
Type or select a division for the created asset. For more information on creating and modifying divisions, see Creating and Modifying Divisions.
Type or select a person which the created asset belongs to, if applicable. For more information, see Viewing Personal Card.
Type or select a cost center linked to the created asset, if applicable. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Cost Centers.
Type or select a cost unit linked to the created asset, if applicable. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Cost Units.
Type or select a project linked to the created asset, if applicable. For more information, see Viewing Project Cards.
Type or select a customer linked to the created asset, if applicable. For more information, see Viewing Account Cards.
Type or select a supplier linked to the created asset, if applicable. For more information, see Viewing Account Cards.
By default, the location field is disabled. The location of the warehouse is displayed when you have selected a warehouse from an asset that has the investment amount and budgeted depreciation.
By default, the warehouse field is disabled when you create a new asset. When you have entered the investment amount and the budgeted depreciation is calculated, you can click Edit to modify the warehouse.
If there is additional information that needs to be entered for the asset, you can type the required remarks under this section.
