How to shut down the Progress AppServer when starting stopping/starting the Progress AppServer or Progress AdminService doesn't help?

Answer:

Follow these step to shutdown and restart a hanging Progress AppServer:

1. Look up the the Process Identifier (PID) of the AppServer's Agent

Open the Progress Explorer Tool and open the 'Status' of the Progress AppServer and go to tab 'Details' . Look up the agent with the status "SENDING"  and write down the corresponding PID.

2. Look up the PID in the task manager

Open the Task Manager, select 'View menu', then select columns and lookup the PID.

3. End the process of the PID

End the process of the PID.

4. Restart the Progress AppServer
