PU 424|423|422 (Globe) and 501|500 (Globe+): Introduction of QR code and e-Invoice feature for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Middle East legislation)
In 2021, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) introduced electronic invoices to the industry. This is known as the FATOORAH system and is managed by the Zakat, Tax and Custom Authority (ZATCA). For more information on the implementation, see ZATCA's website. As a result, all traders are required to use this e-invoicing system.
Exact Globe Next (EGN) has been improved to support our users in KSA so they can comply with the e-invoicing requirements. Now, EGN is able to generate the relevant XML in the ZATCA UBL 2.1 format and also generate the corresponding QR code according to the ZATCA format. This is possible after we made the following updates to EGN:
- : New fields in the Digital certificate section (ZATCA Certificate and Certificate password).
- : New EInvoice Format field to select the appropriate e-Invoice format for use when generating the XML.
- : The ability to specify the reason for generating a credit note. The list of reasons is maintained in the invoice code maintenance screen.
- : A new Nature field is available in VAT maintenance screen. This field is used to specify the tax nature reason.
- and : The invoice and Giro layout screens have been enhanced to allow for printing of QR code. The new fields added in the Calculation field screen under the Header block are Size: QR Code and Database fields (where a new entry QR Code is now available for selection).
You can proceed with printing the invoice in PDF and generating the e-Invoice in XML once all the above necessary master data is set up. Examples of these outputs are as follows:
