Important notes
-
For good performance, we advice to use Solid State Disks (SSD)
-
When using a SATA based interface,
Exact recommends using a hardware RAID system.
- Disks which contain Exact SQL databases, should be formatted in 64k block size.
- When virtualizing Microsoft SQL Server on a Storage Area Network, see
document
21.603.931.
- Make sure the server hardware is scalable.
- Exact advises a dedicated database server (SQL Server) and disk system for the Exact databases to
guarantee optimal performance.
- Server processors are Intel Xeon, AMD Opteron and AMD EPYC.
- We advice to implement the recommendations from the Exact System Information Tool.
Disk system information
When using a SATA based interface, Exact advises the use of a hardware
RAID
system (Redundant Array of Independent Disks). In a
RAID
system, multiple hard disks are used for sharing and replicating data over all
disks. Depending on the selected RAID system, the data integrity and the
performance will increase compared to using one disk. The purpose of fault
tolerance is the most important. With this, data can be rebuild if one of the
disks crashes.
Exact Globe+ in general will perform better in
combination with RAID 5 or RAID 10, since most actions in Exact Globe+ relate to
reading data. For the best disk performance, Exact recommends to use
Solid State Disks (SSD) instead of conventional disks.
