Customizing request type fields – Stage
Menu path
Workflow à Setup à Requests à Request types
Introduction
You can configure the Stage field for a request type on this page. Prior to the configuration, you will need to add the Stage field to the request type of the intended request. For more information on how to add fields to, or remove fields from a request type, see Creating and modifying request types - Fields tab.
Similar to the Follow-up date field, you can make use of the Stage field as a reference or a source to manage any business opportunities found in the requests of this type. In a request, you need to select the request of the type which you have configured to display the predefined options for the Stage field, such as Prospecting, Qualification, Needs Analysis, Value Proposition, Id. Decision Makers, Perception Analysis, Proposal, or Negotiation to define the progress of the request. For more information on how to create or modify a request, see Creating and modifying requests and Customizing request type fields – Follow-up date for information on customizing the Follow-up date field.
This document will also describe how to customize these predefined options to suit your business needs. For more information on the other settings available in most request fields, see Customizing request type fields (Main document).
Roles and rights
To create and modify request types, function right 5 – Create request types, and edit request types without responsible or function right 232 – Edit all request types is required. By default, users with the General manager and HR roles have the first function right while the latter is reserved for users with the Administrator role.
Note:
- For more details on function rights, go to System à Setup à Security à Function rights.

Values
Type the list of options available for the Stage field. The default options are Prospecting, Qualification, Needs Analysis, Value Proposition, Id. Decision Makers, Perception Analysis, Proposal, and Negotiation. These options will be displayed only in the requests of this request type. You can add, remove, or replace these values with your own values, separated by a semi colon (;), if more than one option is present. For more information on other examples for this setting, see Customizing request type fields - Free: Text.
Reference
Select Items, Projects, or VAT codes if you want the user to select an item, a project, or a VAT code instead of a list of option values. When creating or modifying requests of this type, the item, project code, or VAT code will be saved in the database. You can also filter the available items, projects, or VAT codes using a partial SQL statement at Selection. For more information, see Customizing request type fields - Free: Text.
Selection
Type a partial SQL statement, which is used as part of an SQL WHERE clause by the system, to list only the information matching this statement. Click Show to preview the list of results based on the partial SQL statement regardless of other settings under the Selection section. The selection page may present a different list in an actual request during run-time when other settings, which may include settings in other request fields, are taken into account. For more information, see Customizing request type fields - Free: Text.
