E-WMS: Crossdocking production receipts
WMS documentation
Introduction
This document describes the configuration and workings of crossdocking for
production receipts in E-WMS.
Description
From product update 404, E-WMS offers crossdocking functionality for WMS
production receipts, as was already available for purchase receipts. When
enabled, during receipt of a produced item, WMS will check for open sales orders
for that item. If found, the warehouse employee will be advised to put the
quantity required for that sales order, aside to a specific location. This way,
the warehouse handling (transferring) of produced goods can be minimized.
Requirements
Following is required to work with crossdocking for production receipts:
- SE1380 E-WMS I (or SE5700 Pick-IT Basic + SE5705 Route Optimizing)
- SE4250 E-WMS Production (or SE5740 Pick-IT Production)
- SE1385 E-WMS Terminal user (or SE5791 Pick-IT Terminal user) per hand
terminal
- Communication method set to 'ASP'
- 'Picking advice' (Route Optimizing) enabled for order picking
- Only standard items (not: Serial/Batch items) are supported
Configuration
Crossdocking can be configured in menu System,
General, Settings, WMS Production Receipts.
Crossdocking
This setting enables crossdocking functionality in following processes.
- in production receipts registration on the hand terminal, E-WMS will scan
for sales orders requiring this item. When found, a new receipt line is
created containing the generic crossdock location and the quantity required for the
sales order line.
- when generating a picking advice for sales orders, E-WMS will first
advise stock put aside on the crossdock location for this sales order line
Partial delivery validation
This setting determines if you want to limit crossdocking only for sales orders
which allow 'partial delivery'. Orders not allowing partial delivery will
probably only be picked as a whole from the warehouse. Since a crossdock advice
is generated on the scanner before entering the actually received quantity,
crossdocking cannot determine if the receipt would allow partial or complete
fulfillment.
When enabled, only orders where 'partial delivery allowed' is enabled, are
considered for crossdocking (limiting the order selection).
When disabled, the order setting 'partial delivery allowed' is ignored.
Location
This setting determines the general crossdock location, used as receipt location
on the hand terminal. This location
is not validated here, nor a browser on available locations is provided here,
because this location could exist in any (and in more than one) warehouse.
Days in advance
This setting determines for how many days in advance you want received stock to
be crossdocked. This day factor is added to 'today' and matched with the planned
delivery date in the sales order line.
When set to '0' (zero), only sales orders to be fulfilled until today will then
be candidate for crossdocking requirements.
Usage in production receipts
Once crossdocking is enabled, you will see you will see a
message after entry of an item code in ASP production receipts . This instruction message shows which
quantity you are supposed to crossdock for which sales order:

Press ENTER or the OK button to confirm the message, now the crossdock
location (configured in the settings) will be advised as receipt location.
After reading back and processing the receipt, the stock will be available on
the crossdock location.
Usage in order picking advice
When generating a picking advice for the sales order (for which the received
stock was put aside on the crossdocking location), the crossdock location will
be advised as picking location.
