Calculating production order costs of items

Introduction
In this screen, you can calculate and view the total production order costs of a make item based on the defined quantity. You can also compare the total production order costs with the sales price to obtain the profit margin for the item. In addition, you can directly create a production order from this screen.
What version are you using?
The information in this document is based on product update 405.
How do I calculate the production costs of items?
- Define the criteria, and then click Search.
- Select the required item.
- Click Calculate.
- On the Calculate screen, the item code will automatically be filled with the item selected in step 2.
- At Quantity, type the quantity of the item to be calculated.
How do I generate production orders?
- Define the criteria, and then click Search.
- Select the required item.
- Click Calculate.
- On the Calculate screen, the item code will automatically be filled with the item selected in step 2.
- At Version, select the Bills of Material (BOM) version of the item.
- At Quantity, type the quantity of the item.
- Click Produce. Once generated, a message with the production order number will be displayed.
- Click OK. To view the production order generated, go to Manufacturing à Entries à Production orders. For more information, see Overview of production orders.
Fields
Item code
Type or select an item code to calculate the total production order cost of the selected item. By default, the item that you have selected at Manufacturing à To be processed à Calculate will be filled.
Version
Select the Bill of Material (BOM) version of the item. By default, the main version will be selected.
Quantity
Type the quantity of the item to be produced. You can type a decimal value if the item has the divisible attribute (the Divisible check box is selected in the maintenance card of the item at Manufacturing à Setup à Items.
Batch quantity
This field displays the batch quantity of the selected item. The batch quantity is defined in the maintenance card of the item at Manufacturing à Setup à Items, under the Manufacturing tab.
Main version
This check box will automatically be selected if the BOM version selected at Version is the main version of the item. Otherwise, this check box will not be selected. This check box is disabled.
After the fields, the BOM structure of the item and the calculation of the total costs will be displayed, as shown in the following screen:
Sales price
The amount displayed is calculated by multiplying the sales price defined in the maintenance card of the item with the quantity filled at Quantity.
Total costs
The amount displayed is calculated by adding the cost of parts, hours, and extra charges required to produce the number of item defined at Quantity.
Margin
The amount displayed is calculated using this formula: Sales price – Total costs.
Buttons
Produce
Click this to generate a production order based on the defined item, quantity, and BOM version. Once the production order has been successfully generated, a message with the production order number will be displayed. Click OK to close the message screen.
Close
Click this to exit.
