Creating and maintaining activity types for Service management

Introduction
This page allows you to create and maintain service activity types. Activity types are used in service requests to identify the type of service required. Examples of activity types are installation, repair, maintenance, preventive maintenance, calibration, and others. A default hour type and period will be used to pre-define the resource planning lines when creating the service activity to speed up the service intake process.
Roles and rights
All users can create, edit, and delete the activity types.

The information in this document is based on product update 250.
How do I create activity types?
- On the Service: Activity types page, define the division at Division under the Criteria section.
- Click New.
- Define the relevant fields.
- Click Save to create the activity type or Save + New to create another activity type.
Keep in mind: Fields with the “!” icon is mandatory.
How do I edit activity types?
- On the Service: Activity types page, define the division at Division under the Criteria section.
- Click Refresh.
- Select the required activity type under the Code column.
How do I delete activity types?
- On the Service: Activity types page, define the division at Division under the Criteria section.
- Click Refresh.
- Select the required activity type to be deleted under the Code column.
- Click Delete. A message “Are you sure that you want to delete this record?” will be displayed.
- Click OK.
Buttons
Save
Click this to save the activity type.
Save + New
Click this to save the activity type and create another activity type.
Note: This button is available only if you are creating an activity type.
Delete
Click this to delete the activity type.
Note: This button is available only if the activity type is saved.
Close
Click this to exit.
Fields
General section
Division
Your division will be displayed.
Code
Type an alphanumeric code for the activity type. This information is mandatory.
Description
Type a description for the activity type. This information is mandatory.
Defaults: Hour planning section
Hours required
Type the (default) hours required for the activity type. This will be used to pre-define the service activity related to the planning data when adding a service activity to a service request. This information is mandatory.
Hour item
Type or select an hour item for the activity type. This will be used to pre-define the service activity related to the planning data when adding a service activity to a service request. This information is mandatory.
Remarks section
This section allows you to type your remarks or comments for the activity type.
Timestamp
Click this to insert a timestamp with your login name, current date, and current local time for the remark.
Full screen
Click this to maximize the Remarks box. In the full screen view, you can click OK or Cancel to insert or discard the changes in the Remarks box.
